The 2026 season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia got underway last weekend at the iconic Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
The results achieved by Cristian Bertuca and Ermanno Quintieri immediately validated the long-term vision behind the project. Just one year ago, Omnia Global and Prima Ghinzani Motorsport joined forces to create a structured pathway allowing karting talents to step into Porsche environment.
A crucial factor in the weekend’s performance was the intensive preparation carried out by both drivers alongside Prima Ghinzani’s experienced line-up, including Race 1 winner Gianmarco Quaresmini, Giorgio Amati and Cesare Brusa. The collaboration delivered immediate returns.
Bertuca showed pace from the outset, securing a top 10 position in qualifying despite encountering a red flag during his final push lap. Quintieri, slightly less fortunate in traffic, concluded the session in P14.
In Race 1, both rookies converted potential into solid results. Bertuca crossed the line in P8 overall, placing fourth among rookies, while Quintieri finished just outside the top 10 in P11, securing P6 in the rookie classification.
Race 2 proved more challenging. After a strong start from both drivers, race incidents compromised their progress, with Bertuca classified P15 and Quintieri P16.
Andrea Giustini, Co-Founder of Team Omnia, commented:
“We’re looking at two drivers with a very clear performance ceiling. Cristian is a Karting World Cup winner, and stepping into a Porsche like this and immediately fighting inside the top 10 says a lot about his adaptability. Ermanno has already shown his level in the Sprint Challenge last year, and this weekend confirmed that he belongs here. The raw speed is there for both of them. Now it’s about refining execution and building consistency over a full race distance.”
Giacomo Scanzi, Team Principal of Prima Ghinzani Motorsport, added:
“The progression of the Team Omnia drivers is evident every time they’re on track. What we’ve seen in Imola is only the starting point. Integrating young drivers coming from karting into this environment is never straightforward, but the way they are responding is very positive. This collaboration is not just about the present season, it’s a strategic investment for the coming years of Prima Ghinzani Motorsport.”
Team Omnia leaves Imola with tangible confirmation that the karting-to-GT pathway is not only viable, but already delivering competitive performances at national level.
